- You will see a new color palette on the LCD.
- We are hoping that you find the new colors to be easier to read in bright sunlight.
- We also hope that you find them more pleasant to look at.
- For all of you farmers moonlighting as technology geeks:
- Version 6.1 is almost entirely a new code base.
- All previous versions were built on Arduino.cc's IDE.
- Version 6.1 was built using Microsoft's Visual Studio.
- This allowed us to more easily find areas where we could "clean up" and/or rewrite the code to make it more efficient.
- We also hope that this new code base will help us find ways to quickly add features. Hint, hint.
- Sensors. After a lot of research and soul searching, we decided to NOT change the sensors.
- If you read online or talk to other developers, they will say that there are better options. We disagree. For this DIY device, we believe in the "one-wire" protocol. It's super easy to work with, relatively cheap, and (assuming you follow the rules in our guides) just work.
- "Equivalent Moisture" computations
- In the original (previous to version 5.x) HMT versions, we used the Henderson and Chung-Pfost equations to calculate Equivalent Moisture.
- That proved unnecessary.
- Starting with versions 5.x, we began using widely published tables to "look-up" (from internal memory) the grain's Moisture Content based on Temperature and Humidity. All of these tables are also published in our guide's appendices.
